FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
A Utah Department of Transportation [UDOT] project to reconstruct a portion of 500 West in Moab will close the road to through traffic for approximately 9 weeks, beginning March 2 and continuing until May 1.
500 West between Kane Creek Boulevard and Williams Way will be closed to all traffic except residents whose only access to their homes is through the area. UDOT contractor LeGrand Johnson announced that reconstruction work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 am to 6 pm. The road will remain closed evenings and weekends until the project is completed.
Residents along Kane Creek Boulevard southeast of the closed area (including Kane Creek apartments and Mountain View residents) should take an alternate route. The recommended alternate route is Main Street to 100 South, then 100 West to Williams Way to access Moab Regional Hospital, Moab Care Center and the Grand Center, as well as businesses and residences along 500 West north of the closed area.
The contractor has assured Moab City that the road closure and the detour route will be well marked.
