The City of Moab is now entering into the final phase of its vital community-wide project to create a vision and strategic action plan for Moab’s future. The City encourages Moab resid
ents to participate in the Monday, Sept. 19 Future Summit – a celebration of the visioning process to date.
A special event for youth is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17.
These will be the final community engagement events for the Moab – Tomorrow Together Community Visioning process.
“The time, energy, and enthusiasm so many Moab residents have given to the visioning events during the last six months is inspiring. The input we receive from community members is crucial to the overall success of this process,” said Moab City Manager Carly Castle. “We encourage everyone to attend these last community engagement events and add their voices to helping shape the vision for Moab’s future.”
Future Summit
The Future Summit will be held Monday, Sept. 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center Dance Room, 111 East 100 North in Moab.
The Future Summit will include the launch of the six strategic pillars – key topic areas developed by community members during the process so far that will shape the final Vision and Strategic Action Plan. Those who attend will also participate in rapid polling on the strategic pillars and share ideas and thoughts during the evening. Registration is now open at the website, bit.ly/MoabTomorrowTogether.
The six strategic pillars identified by the community during the Think Tank, previous workshops, and focus groups are:
- Tourism Trajectory and Economic Diversification
- Affordability and Equity
- Leadership and Decision Making
- Environmental Stewardship
- Housing and Workforce
- Community Fabric and Wellbeing
Since March, more than 1,000 community members have participated in the Moab – Tomorrow Together community vision process through the March survey, the April Community Think Tank, and the vision workshops, and focus groups held in June and August. All of these events were open to everyone in the community.
Youth Session
The Moab – Tomorrow Together Youth Session is an opportunity for the community’s young people to share their ideas for Moab’s future. This informal session will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center Dance Room. This event is an opportunity for students and their parents to join in the conversation and provide their valuable input into the process.
