The City of Moab will host a public open house to discuss planned changes to on-street parking downtown. The public is invited to attend to learn more and share c
omments on Thursday, June 16 from 5-7 p.m. at the Grand Center, 182 North 500 West. A formal presentation will be made at 5:30 p.m.
The Downtown Dispersed Parking project is planned in place of the previously proposed parking structure with the intent of more evenly distributing parking around the City’s central core. Construction is expected to be implemented later this year.
“We know parking downtown is an issue and that any changes will impact area businesses and property owners,” said City Engineer Chuck Williams. “We held workshops in May to gain feedback about the original concept, learn how business operations might be affected, and then updated the design.”
To mitigate some impacts from the original concept, new areas are proposed. Business and property owners from those new sections are encouraged to attend to learn more and share their thoughts as well.
The project will also provide the opportunity for some aesthetic improvements in several locations. The public is encouraged to attend the open house to learn more and share feedback.
