Effective Aug. 9, 2021, masks are once again required in all City of Moab facilities for staff and members of the public. Social distancing – maintaining at least 6 feet between individuals wherever possible – is also required.
This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution and based on CDC guidelines as well as recommendations from the Chief Medical Officer at Moab Regional Hospital. The State Health Department has moved Grand County back to the High Transmission Level for COVID-19 infection rates.
COVID-19 infection rates are once again climbing across the country, largely due to the spread of the Delta variant. This variant is far more contagious than the original COVID-19 virus and hospitalizations are increasing, even in our community, especially for unvaccinated individuals. In rare cases, vaccinated people are also contracting the virus – although the health effects are generally far less severe.
Masks and social distancing are proven to help slow the spread of all variants of the virus to keep staff and our community safe. Please follow these new mask guidelines as long as they remain in effect.
