Public Hearing for Proposed Business Licensing Code Changes Moved to Aug. 28

       The date for a Moab City Council public hearing on proposed changes to business licensing code has been changed to Aug. 28. The public hearing will begin at approximately 7:10 p.m. at the City Council chambers, 217 E. Center St.

      The City is currently updating business license regulations to bring them into alignment with recent changes in state code. The proposed revisions primarily focus on:

  • Overall cleanup, clarifying definitions, removing conflicting sections, consolidating sections where possible, making City business license code easier to navigate;
  • Revising the code to be compliant with recent state law changes, particularly regarding alcohol, food trucks, and home occupations;
  • Adding specific sections addressing nightly rentals and creating a separate Title for special events for ease of use;
  • Clarifying administrative and appeal responsibilities.

      Area residents and business owners are invited to comment on the proposed changes, either in person at the meeting in writing. Written comments may be emailed to city-council@moabcity.org or delivered to Moab City Council, 217 E. Center Street, Moab, UT 84532. A draft of the proposed code is available online in the July 25, 2018 City Council meeting packet (http://bit.ly/BusinessLicenseCodeChangesDraft), beginning on page 76.

      For questions or additional information email communication@moabcity.org or call 435-259-5121.
