CHIP SEAL WORK TO BEGIN SEPT. 25-29
Crews will be working on chip seal projects affecting several city streets from Sept. 25 to Sept. 29, according to the Moab City Public Works Department. All affected streets will remain open, but residents should expect lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Chip sealing will begin Monday, Sept. 25 on 500 West, from Main Street (U.S. 191) to Kane Creek Boulevard.
Chip seal work is also scheduled for several other streets on Moab’s west side:
· McGill Boulevard, from McCormick Boulevard to MiVida Drive;
· MiVida, from McCormick to 400 North;
· 400 North, from 500 West to Main Street;
· 100 West, from 400 North to 100 South;,
· 100 South, from 100 West to Main Street;
· Williams Way, from 500 West to 100 West.
Streets on Moab’s east side will also be chip sealed throughout the week. Crews will be working on the following streets:
· 400 East, from 100 North to South Main Street;
· 300 South, from Main Street to 400 East.
Signs will be posted on each street one day prior to the beginning of the road work on that street, and crews will also distribute notices at each residence or business one day before the work is scheduled to begin in each specific area.
No on-street parking will be allowed on the days the chip sealing work will be done and all vehicles, including cars, trucks, boats, etc. must be removed from the street during this time, city officials said.
During the week of Oct. 5 through Oct. 9 work crews will return to those newly chip sealed streets to apply a fog coat (an oil application applied over the chip seal). And in mid-October, from Oct. 12 through Oct. 23, a painting contractor will be painting new stripes on those streets.
