Changes Come to Old City Park

Changes Come to Old City Park Stage; Community Feedback Welcome
By Erin Groves
Moab’s Old City Park is a venue beloved by many Grand County residents, old and new. The stage, nestled among giant shade trees and a lush green landscape, has hosted professional music events of all types, non-profit fundraisers, outdoor weddings, and more throughout its thirty-three year history. The park boasts unique characteristics that make it an outstanding outdoor performance venue, such as the natural slope of the landscape, which gives all patrons a clear line-of-site to the performers. Unfortunately, for over two decades, the sprinkler system at Old City Park heavily and frequently watered the wooden stage. The watering system has since been updated and adjusted to protect the stage area. However, decades of seasonal weather exposure and water damage have taken a toll. The stage has seen better days and could be considered by some to be unsafe and in need of full replacement, which the City plans to address this spring and summer.
