The Moab City Streets Department can help you with:
The City of Moab has 26 miles of roads within the city limits. The Streets Department is responsible for keeping those roads in great condition despite the extremes in desert weather. It's a challenge to keep roads in tip-top shape when the temperature ranges from over 100 degrees in the summer to the teens in winter.
Crews work to maintain them by using crack-seal, chip-seal, overlay, or sometimes complete reconstruction. Flash floods also keep the department busy. Because of the nature of rainfall in Moab, it only rains eight inches a year but it seems to come all at once, so storm drainage is a big part of the Street Department's responsibility.
Streets Department workers are often called out on emergencies when the creeks and roadways flood. Finally, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks are also under the watchful eye of the Streets Department.
For emergencies or questions about streets call 435-259-7485. After-hour emergencies such as flood water, broken water mains, or sinking roads should be directed to the Sheriff's Department at 435-259-8115.
